We met by chance whilst we were both on holiday at the same time in Newquay. Matt was camping with his friends and Emma was on a birthday weekend getaway with her friend Sammy.
A few drinks later and we happened to be in the same nightclub, when Emma approached and sat down next to Matt (Who'd have thought it!) and we started talking, dancing and then talking again until the small hours outside of Emma's hotel.
We parted with each others numbers and didn't know what was in store but hopeful all the same.

A few weeks after meeting, we reunited in Chester for what became several dates in one—dinner at an Italian, a day at Chester Zoo, and an escape room we smashed through with time to spare.
Matt drove Emma home via McDonald’s and a 45-minute standstill in the Blackpool Illuminations traffic. A weekend of laughter, teamwork, and the perfect start.

For Matt’s birthday, we set off on a mini adventure—starting in Inverness skipping stones and hunting sea glass around Loch Ness, then visiting the Highland Wildlife Park and Edinburgh Zoo where Matt fed rhinos Sanjay and Khabib.
We wrapped it up with five sunny days in Tenerife, hitting Siam Water Park, dolphin and whale watching, and snorkelling with sea turtles. A trip full of laughs, animals, and absolutely no relaxing!

Just eight months after meeting, we took the plunge and moved in together—a big step, but one we were both excited for.
There were a few hiccups along the way (Matt’s “no heating before November” policy and a spontaneously shattered shower screen, for starters), but between evenings curled up in front of the log burner and Emma’s creativity shining through in the decorating, it quickly became our cosy little haven.

Just when things had started to settle, we added a new kind of chaos to the mix—our little whirlwind of fur and teeth, Chilli. From chewed shoes to sleepless nights, the puppy antics kept us on our toes, but she’s our best girl and we couldn’t imagine life without her.

With a new puppy tearing around, we figured it was time for a proper garden for Chilli—and a place to truly call our own. So, the house hunt began. After finding the perfect home, we waited (and waited) through nine long months of probate and chain delays. But finally, two years after first moving in together, we got the keys and started our next chapter in our very own home!

The same month we moved into our new home, Matt had one more surprise up his sleeve. Unbeknownst to Emma, he’d already bought the ring and planned to propose during our holiday in Rhodes.
A lucky upgrade to a sea-view suite with a balcony made for the perfect setting—so, as the sun rose over the water, Matt got down on one knee, and Emma said yes.

That brings us to today — and everything still to come. On the 3rd of August 2026, exactly two years to the day since our engagement, we’ll be saying “I do” surrounded by our favourite people.
It feels like the perfect full circle moment after everything we’ve shared so far. We’re so excited to celebrate with you all, to start this next chapter as husband and wife, and to see wherever life (and a certain little dog) takes us next.
